We are now preparing to lead the program team in Sydney, Australia for their first TeenStreet 5-10 April 2010. We would appreciate your prayers for us and for those organizing and preparing for this event!

Our yearly event for going to Bob & Kaye Sim’s Hidden Hollows to walk through their woods in all our winter ware, including our boots, scarves and gloves with hand saw in tow was a wonderful event again this year. We waited for Joshua this year, because we wanted to! Last year we had Kim and two dogs accompanying Dan, Josiah & I. This year, it was once again the 4 of us with Joshua too! We found a beautiful “fir” tree, and cut it down.
The trip was not uneventful as Josiah at the base of the tree in the lead and Joshua at the top, but got going too fast on the slippy ice. Josiah kept going on his own, once he lost Joshua in his speed. But the fir on his hat kept slipping down lower and lower. Josiah miscalculated the distance he was from the big flatbed truck and crashed his elbow into it full force, causing the tree and he to bounce on the ground, while we all watched. Note to self: “when running and your hat slips over your eyes, stop running!”.
We have the tree up in the living room, lights, decorations on and the hot drinks have all been downed in the process . . . now it is time for Christmas! Let the celebrations begin!

We just finished with the TCK (Third Culture Kid) Jordan Weekend! It was an awesome time together with 76 of us from all over the world! Our theme was “The Journey of Monkeys, Monks & Me” . . . which was similar but totally different than the week we had in the Netherlands with MTO 09.
It was great to learn about the culture and life of these teens living in the near east. Our challenge was to motivate them to Follow Jesus!
Then he (Jesus) said to them all:
“If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
~ Luke 9:23
These teens are in our prayers as they go to following Jesus in the midst of their present life!
Nicole & friends had a surprise birthday party show by DUZIE . . . the amazing EduTainers this afternoon. Her parents booked us for her special celebration. The party, originally planned for the back porch, took place in the garage with every age of friend and relative.
Our DUZIE amazing EduTainer Show included our amazing rope show, and featuring Nicole, taught 3 different rope knot tricks, tricks that you can do at a grocery store with coins, a story & magic illustration about showing love to your friends, balloon twisting taught to all the kids (Nicole on the right is featured in the photo on the right with her purple dog and friends), rocket puzzles for all the men, ziplock bending for the ladies, a straightjacket illusion, and slydini scarves for the grand finale!
We loved to be able to help Nicole and her family and friends celebrate her special day . . . the DUZIE way!
We fly to MTO (Missionary Teens Only) in just 3 days . . . so much going on right now that we have to juggle (as usual before a big trip).
Here is the group photo from MTO 2008. Seeing everyone here is motivating for us and all the work / preparation that we are involved in. There are piles emerging all over the house: clothes to take, sports equipment and games created, craft items, papers that are needed. We are also doing the finishing touches of the booklet that everyone will get with the theme and Bible Study materials.
I am on call (carrying the pager, answering the phone calls, and going on home visits if necessary) for Hospice today. It is the last day before going. I have had so many days on call in the last 2 weeks, since I am not home for the last 3 weeks of August. They even gave me one less day, because I am going. Still it feels like so much in the midst of packing and prep for MTO. I work at the Hospice Residence tomorrow night from 3:00 – 11:30 pm.
On Saturday afternoon, we have our last DUZIE Party – a 9 year old girl’s birthday party, and Sunday morning we lead worship at our church . . . besides that (and a bit of sleeping) all our time is devoted to getting ready for MTO and the following 2 weeks of GO Conference (we are on the program team for the New Recruits joining OM).
These days are intense, and we feel the stress in our bodies (especially the stomach). It helps us focus and pray in preparation for MTO.

Dustin & Jennifer Kerrins were married by the magistrate on July 28, 2008. Dustin then went overseas in the army. They had this short break for this weekend to celebrate with the ceremony and reception in Gladwin and Butman, Michigan.
The ceremony was in Jennifer’s parent’s side yard. Dustin in his dress uniform, and Jennifer in a gorgeous white dress. The groomsmen wore brown camouflage vests and ties with white shirts and dark dress pants. The girls wore brown strapless dresses with purple accents. There was a huge rainstorm earlier in the day, which dried up for their 2:00 pm wedding.
The bride and groom came to the reception hall in Butman around 4:00 pm with Dan, Suzie & Josiah Potter as the DJs. Patty Povilunas (the groom’s aunt) was the photographer. There was great celebration, food, fun, and dancing until 11:00 pm when we packed down the equipment. The celebrations continued long after we left.
Dustin & Jennifer headed to South Carolina on the 26th of July. Dustin heads back overseas to Afghanistann in 2 weeks. Our love and prayers go with them both!
